Vintage Bazaar & Manchester Textile Fair.....

Yesterday saw the Vintage Bazaar go to Hartley Wintney in Hampshire.  Lizzie and Clare did their usual wonderful job of organising a fantastic fair aided by their respective other half's...so a big thank you to all of them for all their hard work that went into making the day such a success.  Ali very kindly let me stay with her on the Friday night so I didn't have so far to drive.  I was also very naughty and took my Chelsea Tractor for it's first long journey, very comfy, it was like driving whilst sitting in an armchair!  It was lovely to meet  new faces at the fair and also meet old friends and fellow bloggers.  A big thank you to all of you who made a purchase from me, it is most appreciated.  I was very good and saved all the money I made in readiness for today, the textile and fashion fair in Manchester.  So again, up early at 5am this morning and a 1 1/2 hour trip to Manchester..........

The truffling began with a delicious pile of patchwork quilts in dire need of a clean (a gentle one), and of course I want to keep them all but can't!

I love this gorgeous faded roses French sewing basket?? (please correct me if I am wrong) and a lovely selection of lace and beadwork.

A gorgeous vintage beaded lace jacket.

More beaded lovelies.

The usual Victorian and Edwardian gorgeousness that I cannot resist.

I certainly couldn't turn down this beautiful black heavily beaded Edwardian dress.....it weighs an absolute tonne and is in stunning condition.

The bead work on both the front and the back is stunning but must have made the wearer ache from the sheer weight.  I am now going to slope off and tidy away my purchases and enjoy a well earned rest.
Have a great week.

Sundays Finds

I have realised that my blog has been very Pug orientated lately so I thought it was about time to show you two of my latest finds.  Hubby and I set off in the 'Chelsea Tractor' bound for Kedleston Hall in Derby where a large antiques fair is held  in the grounds.  We have seen this fair advertised before but for some reason have never been although it isn't far from where we live!  Most of the fair appeared to be just general antiques and no textiles :( but then, I found this................

The most stunning hand embroidered silk bed cover.

The amount of work that has gone into this bed cover is amazing.  I think it probably started life as a piano shawl but then at some time in it's life has been backed in silk to make this beautiful bed cover.  I will covet it for a while but promise I will part with it...........

The next find was this gorgeous French Boutis (SORRY SOLD), in lovely condition apart from a couple of marks.  I have washed it and will be taking it to a fair in the near future.

Lovely, shabby and French, just how I like them....

Just to lower the tone somewhat....this was the men's toilets at the fair!  Everything for the modern man which my hubby found very amusing.
On that note.....have a great week.

Pug Rescue Garden Party

Very fortuitously my cousin and his partner breed Pugs and live in Cheshire so only about an hour away from us which is even more dangerous.  Rebecca got in touch last week and asked us if we wanted to go to the Pug Rescue & Welfare Association garden party.  So last Sunday off we went in my new 'Chelsea Tractor' with PJ (the others are a nightmare in the car) and set off for Sandbach.

PJ (on the left) and friends.

I don't think I have seen so many Pugs, there must have been close on a couple of hundred!

Lovely Pug bottoms.

Lots of Puggies doing what they do best 'eating' ,with PJ trying to hump Thumbelina in the background:))  Can't take him anywhere.

A lovely old lady.

A gorgeous old veteran Pug in his buggy, apparently he is 14 and can't walk very far...I wanted to bring him home.

My favourite picture of the day.  This lovely old rescue boy gets tired and his lovely owner carries him in a baby sling...a Pug papoose!
We had a wonderful afternoon and PJ was very well behaved on the whole.  I am sure they raised lots of money on the day.  We came home with some oven gloves and a Pug apron and a calendar for next year.
Have a lovely weekend, it's going to be a hot one!
