Harrogate

Had a great day out in Harrogate last Sunday. The vintage fair I attended with hubby was a real success. It was held in the centre of Harrogate at The White Hart Hotel (pictured). The fair was well attended and had a steady stream of people through out the day. I sold loads of bits and bobs (and bought some as well). Mr Gillette was the star of the show once again. He is sporting a rather fetching Vintage Bowler hat (purchased at the fair) and vintage specs for his city gent look. I am currently awaiting the arrival of a vintage monocle to go with the top hat I have bought for him for his night at The Savoy!! Pictures will follow.................

Discover Vintage Fair - Manchester

Hubby and I had another wonderful day, this time we attended the Discover Vintage Fair in Chorlton - on - Medlock, Manchester. The fair was held in the most stunning of locations, The Victoria Baths which are undergoing extensive restoration at the moment. The fair was very well organised, thanks to Keeley, and very well attended. I was so pleased as I had great feedback from people about my items for sale. To me, it is not just about making money, but also to gauge public opinion about my stock, and what people would like to see at future fairs. Mr. Gillette went down a storm with several people asking if they could buy him,(it would take several crates of vintage champagne to get me to part with him). I met some lovely people, and the other stall holders were really friendly. The baths were stunning although it was freezing cold where we were standing. All in all we had a wonderful and tiring day but it was well worth standing in Arctic conditions just to be out there and meet like minded people. Next week we are taking the plunge and attending the Discover Vintage Fair in Harrogate.

Mr Gillette

Meet Mr. Gillette, my new 1930's gentleman. He was apparently part of a display in a barbers shop on a Gillette shaving stand that unfortunately was not saved with him. I still think he looks fab though, even if he does look somewhat like John George Haigh, the Acid Bath Murderer!! He is going to be part of the display on my stand at the Vintage Fair I am attending this weekend. He is also one of the designs on my bags. Having bespoke printed bags was a little out of my budget so hubby and I hit upon the idea of designing our own. Hubby took the pictures and then printed the images on to transparent labels to be stuck on my new pink paper bags. We have tried several different images and they all look really good, I am so pleased with them. I decided I wanted bags that stood out and also had my business name on. It is also important, I think, to package up items in attractive bags.

Derby Fair

Here are a selection of the bits and bobs I had for sale. The Union Jacks went down a storm. I had some really great feedback from people which is always nice, as you never know if what you are doing is right, and also not being too pricey... I did take along something to suit all tastes and budgets. It is so disappointing to attend a fair and to not be able to afford anything, I know it has happened to me in the past.... All in all it was an exhausting, but very enjoyable day out.

Derby Vintage fair

Here is my stall at the Affordable vintage fair I attended in Derby yesterday. It is the first fair I have ever done and it was a resounding success. I met some really lovely people, both stall holders and buyers. It is great to meet so many like minded people that all love vintage. It was also great to see so many young students dressed in a mixture of 40's, 50's and 60's vintage clothing. One young girl looked like a film star from the 40's, she looked fabulous. It is really heart warming to see these young people with such a passion for old items.

I remember my teenage years when I was a Mod (a 60's one) during the Mod revival in the 80's. I remember fishing around in charity shops, much to the disgust of my parents, for original 60's clothing. I had some lovely mini dresses and skirts (I also had the figure then). Unfortunately the only survivor of my Mod days is my beloved fish tail Parka, an original 1951 genuine American Army Parka. I love it and will never part with it. I am surprised to still have it intact as my parents made frantic attempts to part me from it. It is now safely stored away.

Back to the fair for a moment, I met a lovely lady who asked me if I would do a charity fair she is holding, so I am attending that one in May. There is also a craft fair called 'Apples and Pears' in Nottingham and I am making enquiries into attending one of their fairs in April.
